Fall 11: Hot Plaids

Plaids are still going strong and this season there are some bright plaids and some interesting executions, as with Marni. Deconstruct it, saturate it, mix it up, but don't neglect the plaid for your upcoming trend directions!

Fall 11: Architecture

TopShop Unique, Etro, Akris, Moscino Cheap and Chic

Every season there is a quirky conversational theme that seems to crop up in multiple lines at once. For Fall 11, that theme is architecture, especially iconic buildings. Perhaps fashion designers are in need of a little travel? Or are they digging into the history of places for inspiration?

Paisleys at Kenzo and Chloe

Paisleys are a big upcoming trend for Fall 11 and 12. Bring some trippy hippy vibes to your women's or contemporary line with this ornate and beautiful print tradition.

Fall 11: Graphic Geos

Marni, Diane Von Furstenberg, Topshop Unique

Graphic geometrics appeared in heavy doses on Marni, Diane Von Furstenbert and TopShop, all with interesting takes and unique applications

Fall 11: Soft Geos

Duro Olowu, Marni, Louise Gray

Soft geometrics with an ethnic vibe were a big presence on the Fall 11 runways. Mixed prints are still big, and painted geometrics bring feel 60's but modernized with color and contemporary dress silhouettes.

Fall 11 Trend | Mirrored Opulence

Matthew Williamson, Holly Fulton, Pucci, Etro

A good number of frocks on the fall runways feature opulent, swirly designs in a mirrored repeat that splits the body in symmetrical half. Holly Fulton's prints had some 20's influences, Etro seemed to have a Medieval tapestry look, and Pucci's was more Baroque-inspired. Matthew Williamson featured his usual kaleidoscope prints, and then some floral embellishments as seen above that seem to have a folk-art influence.

Fall 11: D & G

D & G was all about the alphabet, in black and white, yellow and black, red and black, and multi-colored. Even the jewerly was a malange of bright letters hanging happily together. Are letters the next big trend? We have noticed type on lots of apparel lately!

Fall 11: Diane von Furstenburg

Graphic print dominate at Diane von Furstengerg's show, and are a nice compliment to her figure-flattering silhouettes. There was a wide range of print here, from tropical florals to optical geometrics.

Print masters Basso & Brooke give us these fantastic dreamscapes with lots of birds, scenery, flowers, and abstraction

Fall 11: Preen

Three-dimensional boxes and Islamic-looking tilework adorn Preen's collection, in gorgeous jewel tones and with a nice juxtaposition between sweater knits and metallic-finished fabrics.
